Some have called the pub 'In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst' (In the Insurance against Large Thirst), the only remaining café at the village square in Eizeringen. This traditional Payot cafe has one of the largest gueuze and kriek selections in the world.
The restauration of the pub took five years. During the works attention was paid to the identity of the cafe. The walls are telling many stories about the brewery history in the region and the Eizeringen village life some 50 years ago.

Besides the opening hours on Sundays and church holidays, from 10 a.m. until 1.30 p.m. The pub is also open when there is a funeral service at Saint Ursula Church. Furthermore, the café can be rented for private parties and gatherings.

"In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst" fulfils a social role within the local community. It is not a theme café or concept bar, but simply a place where people gather to have an chat before, during and after mass."
