The cafe with probably the finest selection of gueuze and other lambic beers.

Open on Sunday and Church Holidays from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Also open on CHRISTMAS DAY 25 DECEMBER from 10 AM to 4 PM.

In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst

means "in the Insurance against Great Thirst" and is one of the few remaining cafés in the Pajottenland hamlet of Eizeringen. This traditional local pub undoubtedly has one of the most amazing selections of lambic, gueuze and kriek in the world.

Some people jokingly call the inn “the café with the longest name and the shortest opening hours,” because it is only open one day a week. On the other days of the week, the café can be rented for small events.

A typical Flemish countryside PUB

An authentic interior

As soon as you step into the café, you might think a time machine has transported you to the past. The inn was built in 1842 and is therefore one of the oldest brick buildings in the village, just one year younger than the Saint Ursula Church.

The walls tell stories about the breweries and blenders of the Pajottenland and the village life of Eizeringen. The rare Art Deco counter and the Westminster clock immediately catch the eye.

The restoration of the café took five years. Kurt, the owner, did everything he could to combine modern comfort with the authenticity of this small piece of Flemish heritage.

The pub is open on Christmas Day!

We are open on Thursday, December 25th from 10 AM till 4 PM.
